Personal Top Ten Cartoon

January 14, 2004

The Dover Boys of Ol P.U. has got to be one of the greatest cartoons of all time. With brothers Tom, Dick and Larry - all yearning for the passionate glances of Miss Dora Stanpipe, duaghter of the richest guy in town. So over the top - back in the day before political correctness and restraint, Dan Backslide is just plain nasty. HA! Really very funny and great harmonies too.

Casper -Spooking About Africa

January 13, 2004

Spooking About Africa is a hoot. Or perhaps I should say, a snoot… or a snout. Casper makes a new friend - a depressed elephant who can’t stop sneezing. Everytime he sneezes the earth shakes, making things quite nasty for his jungle friends. Plus feathers and forest fires! must see tv.

Apple DVD Users - Mux Help

January 12, 2004

We have heard from some Apple users - that they are having trouble loading our MPEG-1 files as source files in DVD authoring software. The problem seems related to the MUX used, and in particular - the audio portion of the file. Anyway - here’s a workaround fix from one of our subscribers. We haven’t tried the software - make no claims, receive no kickbacks. I wish Apple software developers would just tweak on their end so the problem goes away. The workaround - … (from Andy)

i did find a solution that you might want to pass
along to other MAC users…

i download an app. called bbDEMUX

http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/14618

this app. demuxed the file and seperated it into 2 seprate files - an audio and video.

the video works just fine… BUT the audio still didnt work! SOOOO…. i downloaded another app. called MADplay

http://www.biermann.org/philipp/mad/

this converts the audio into an AIFF.

(phew)

Hope this helps, we’ll keep you posted on what we hear from other MAC users.

Pied Piper Plus Popeye’s Pappy’s Pooped

January 9, 2004

The new stuff keeps pumping out…. follow me said the Pied Piper and hear the tale of the Wild Swan. A real life Pied Piper guy introduces an uninspired animation, more weird value than cartoon value.

And here’s another Old School Popeye - with Popeye’s Dad Pappy called Quiet! Pleez. Pappy has a bad headache and needs some rest. Trouble is, the city is a noisy place… till Popeye eats some spinach and spreads a lot of pillows around.

Gabby -King for a Day

January 7, 2004

Another gem from the Fleischer Brothers, King for a Day stars the loveable lilliputian, Gabby - who once was the hero in Gulliver’s Travels. Need more? Just search for Gabby.

Yesterday I had a chance to watch the first part of the upcoming Truffaut movie, Shoot the Piano Player. Very cool. Feels like Taratino… or vica versa? So I googled it. Good links to helped get you stoked. Still, lots of work to do on our end, so be patient.

Updating and schlogging in the New Year

January 5, 2004

All right - a New Year, with lots of housekeeping chores to do. All the calendar messages need to be rejiggered to 2004 date, which is an experience like writing 2003 on checks till May. Well… i lie. It is just an edit replace, load in back-up DB, port to many other machines.. and the calendar goes from nothing… to fully loaded for the year. Phew… glad that’s done.

We just got in two amazing films - One from Francois Truffaut called Shoot the Piano Player starring Charles Aznavour, France’s version of Frank Sinatra… well kinda. Also in - more Akira Kurosawa with a cult classic, Ugetsu.

But first, we’ll be providing some new primo cartoons while we work to fully restore the 2 cool film classics. Little King in Christmas Up North, more Casper, and Gabby too!

Dream of Jeannie’s Navel?

January 2, 2004

More new MPEG downloads and rotations. First of all, we took down Bela Lugosi’s classic - White Zombie and Frank Sinatra’s Suddenly from the MPEG download area. And just added - Check out Barbara Eden, best known as Jeannie the genie in The Woman Hunter. For the first time in broadcast history, we get to see Jeannie’s belly button! Also stars Robert Vaughn (from the Man from U.N.C.L.E.), Larry Storch (from F Troup) and Stuart Whitman.
