A Cool Fellini Classic

Ok - you have heard that Federico Fellini is one of the greatest directors of all time… and you may have enjoyed his masterpiece La Strada or 8 1/2… but admit it… you have never seen that many, if any of his films. Well, here at LikeTelevision - we offer one of his best, and you probably have never seen it. Today’s featured content is called - Il Bidone, which means “The Drum”. The movie is part of Fellini’s gloomy period - called The Trilogy of Loneliness, which includes 2 of his more famous works, La Strade and Nights of Cabiria. Welll… the third leg of the the stool is Il Bidone, which features Broderick Crawford, best known as Dan Matthews on Highway Patrol and Richard Basehart, who played the captain of the submarine in Voyage to The Bottom of The Sea. Crawford is the leader of a bunch of low life con men, who pose as priests and scam the innocent rubes of the Italian countryside. He gets in deep trouble when he tries to rip off his bosses - so he can pay for the continuing education of his estranged daughter. The poor guy learns that the end don’t justify the means…. and that trying to steal from the mob is a good way to get the mean guys to hasten your end. Darn… there was a good pun in there, but I couldn’t find it.
