His Girl Friday

One of the greats - Howard Hawks directed His Girl Friday, a romantic comedy starring Carey Grant and Rosiland Russell. The setting is an old school newspaper office.. you know, back in the day when newspapers were a big deal… way before the internet and computers. Back then… the newspapers companies yeilded great power and the ability to influence… in the same way Orson Welles was in Citizen Kane…. only these characters “act nice”.. using the paper for the good guys. The little guy… etc. etc … and of course…. they fall in love. Ralph Bellamy plays the guy Rosiland Russell dumps for Cary Grant. Bellamy is hilliarously convincing as a stiff life insurance salesman who gets dumped. You probably recognize Ralph Bellamy from Trading Places with Eddie Murphy, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Dan Ackroyd. Ralph Bellamy plays one of the super rich Duke Brothers, the other was Don Ameche. In short - His Girl Friday is a really cool movie… check it out - or watch it again.
